E-Business Class 2008 Graduation Ceremony at International
University, Niigata |
|
|
|
|
|
Like any, I started my congratultory mesaage as, "President
Sugihara, trustees, councilors, advisors, faculty, friends,
noble parents, and dear class of 2008, good morning to everyone.
It is indeed a particular honor to stand before, to speak to you
today. I’d like to join both President Sugihara and the members
of the faculty in welcoming all of you to the 7th graduation
ceremony of the e-Business Management class at the International
University of Japan. What a beautiful day you |
|
|
 |
have today to celebrate such an important moment in your
lives. I am so proud of you. I'm delighted to be here on this
day of celebration and rededication. To those of you who are
here from the class of '08, I say congratulations. I also would
like to express my appreciation to the hard work of all the
members of the faculty, your teachers, and also the members of
the staff who have all contributed toward your successful
education. You may be in debt, but you |

|
 |
made it. And if you're not in debt now, after the alumni
association gets through with you, you will be. A
commencement speech is a particularly difficult assignment,
and given the time to me to speak makes it more difficult, for
those who might have attended my lectures would know. I am
here given no topic and is expected to be able to inspire all
the graduates with a stirring speech about nothing at all".
This was an exciting moment with some nervousness for the
students, who all had the giddy excitement feel - and
that I felt with the graduate - that some of them felt a
little uncertain on the day if they would be successful in the
current economic scenarios, that most companies were going
through some kind of challenges. Anyway, I continued to
deliver my |
|
|
 |
lecture talking about leadership and the points that they all
needed to keep in mind during their work life. I remembered my
graduation days and could feel all the excitements they were
going through during the ceremony. The class threw their hoods
showing off their sucess. The speech from their class students
Yuri was just mind blowing, emotional.

She and her sister had created a farewell video, which was just
great. The selection of music and songs were excellent, they
were just nostalgic.
The graduation ceremony ended with a closely knit farewell
party with the students, faculty and invited guests. One of the
students from Uganda, sang few songs to

show his gratitute to the university and the friendship he got
from his fellow class. I would bet this was a best day for him.
For me this was a super fantabous experience, that I would have
never dreamt off.
Finally, my two cents from the end of my message to the class
students, "don’t give up, turnaround champions and
entrepreneurs alike agree on one thing : persistence lies at the
heart of success. Just keep trying! I would repeat, Never give
up! Because the only person that can stop you is—YOU! Wish you
all the very best. Thank you". |
